BREAKING IRON

SYNOPSIS:

Breaking Iron tells the story of Jonah, an immigrant who turned into self-made millionaire, crossing Canadian borders arriving to America without even a complete set of shoes. After losing his mother in the journey to America, Jonah spends his teenage years living on the street until he is able to turn a competitive drive and unique worldview into one opportunity after the next. Now, as a mogul in his thirties, Jonah has lived a life without love. He has made himself strong by avoiding the vulnerability of true friendships or relationships. Outside of his drive to excel in the corporate world, his true passion—and addiciton—is the Iron Man Triathlon.

The Iron Man is a grueling contest that combines a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bicycle race, and a marathon into the same even. Jonah is a fierce competitor and dedicates his life to training for these races. Putting in long hours at the office followed by long hours at the gym, pool, or track. This addiction has grown over the years and become all encompassing, eclipsing time spent with family.

As Jonah prepares to seek a place in the Iron Man World Championships, he injures himself and is forced to slow down and take stock of what his life really is. During this downtime, he meets Ellie, his rehab doctor who hits Jonah like a lightning bolt and conjures up feelings he doesn’t really understand. As Jonah starts to recover and find his way back into competition, his newfound connections start to suffer and tear.
